Face and Neck lifts
What is a Face and Neck Lift?
A Face Life is a surgical procedure which aims to improve the look of your face and neck by lifting soft tissues on the face, removing excess skin and then ‘draping’ the skin back over the new contours of the face. A Neck Lift aims to remove excess fat and skin from the neck and is typically performed as part of a facelift.
Often these procedures are performed at private hospitals, but occasionally these are performed under the NHS. It is important to note who is responsible for any potential problems under the contract you sign - this can be either the clinician individually or the Hospital.
How can negligence cause issues after my Face and Neck Lift procedure?
Face and Neck Lifts are regularly performed in the UK, and many people undergo the procedures with no issues at all.
However, there are occasions when issues may arise either during the operation or post-operatively, and sometimes this is due to the negligence of the surgeon or team carrying out the procedure and post-care.
Examples of issues that may arise include:
• Evident unevenness on your face
• Tightness of your skin
• Nerve damage including numbness in nerves across your face
• A noticeable difference in your hairline, or loss of hair
These issues are acknowledged as potential risks of undergoing a Face or Neck Lift and it is important to note that not all undesirable outcomes are as a result of negligence. However, should your care fall below the required standards either during the procedure or afterwards and as a result, any of these issues are made worse, then you may be able to make a claim for compensation.
